Decades of darkness end: Irpanar village in Abujhmad gets electricity for the first time

Raipur, April 25, 2026/
Once just a name on the map, Irpanar village has now become a symbol of new hope. Nestled amid the dense forests, high hills, and remote terrain of Abujhmad, the village has received electricity for the first time. As bulbs lit up homes that had remained in darkness for generations, the village witnessed not just light, but the arrival of development.

Located around 30 km from the Narayanpur district headquarters, Irpanar is far from easily accessible. The journey involves kutcha roads, steep climbs, dense forests, and stretches that must be covered on foot. Connectivity becomes even more difficult during the monsoon.

The Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited, Narayanpur Division, completed this challenging task on priority. The departmental team, led by the Executive Engineer, worked in mission mode and achieved success despite tough geographical conditions.

Development drive through dense forests

Collector Ms Namrata Jain said that electrifying Irpanar was not a routine technical task. Transporting poles, wires, and materials required intense effort. In many areas, materials were carried manually with local support due to the inaccessibility of machines. Despite rugged terrain and limited resources, the team completed line expansion, pole installation, and connections within the stipulated time, setting a strong example.

Amount of Rs 56.11 lakh investment, impact for generations

The electrification of Irpanar village was completed at a cost of Rs 56.11 lakh. Under this project, households received electricity connections for the first time—reflecting the government’s commitment to ensuring that even the most remotest household and beneficiary has equal access to development.

Lighting up children’s dreams

With electricity now available, children can study at night under proper lighting. Basic facilities like using comfort of fan, lights, and small household appliances will make daily life easier.

In the future, opportunities for digital education, healthcare services, communication, and small businesses are also expected to grow.

Joy lights up faces in the village

As the first bulbs glowed, joy was visible on every face—from children to the elderly. Many villagers said they had seen permanent lighting in their homes for the first time. Life, long dependent on lanterns, firewood, and limited resources, is now beginning to change.

Villagers expressed gratitude to the administration and the electricity department, calling it a historic day for the village.

A new beginning for change in Abujhmad

Other remote villages like Irpanar are also being connected on priority with essential services such as electricity, roads, drinking water, education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities.
