Sen Community a Strong Pillar of Sanatan Traditions and Social Harmony: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai


A Square in Nava Raipur to be named after Sant Shiromani Sen Ji Maharaj; Government committed to welfare of traditional hair artisans


Raipur, August, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that Sen community has a glorious history and has played an important role for centuries in strengthening India’s social fabric, traditions and spirit of harmony. He said that the community’s association with great leaders such as Bharat Ratna Jan Nayak Shri Karpoori Thakur is a matter of pride for the entire Sen community.

Addressing the Sen Shakti Sammelan and Kesh Shilpi Samman Samaroh today at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium in the Medical College campus in Raipur, Shri Sai said the Sen community’s contribution extends far beyond its traditional occupations. From birth and marriage to death and other important social rituals, members of the community have traditionally played an important role in society and have helped carry Sanatan traditions and values from one generation to the next.

Chief Minister announced ₹50 lakh for construction of a community building for the Sen community. He also assured the gathering that the State Government would extend every possible support for the community’s development and welfare and would seriously consider its present-day needs and demands.

Square in Nava Raipur to be Named After Sant Shiromani Sen Ji Maharaj

Making an important announcement, Shri Sai said that a chowk in Nava Raipur will be named after Sant Shiromani Sen Ji Maharaj. He said a committee has already been constituted in this regard to take forward the naming process. Chief Minister assured that the government would extend every possible support for the advancement of the community.

Government Committed to Welfare of Traditional Artisans

Shri Sai said the Kesh Shilpi Kalyan Board was established during the tenure of former Chief Minister and present Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh. Several initiatives were undertaken at the time to economically empower members of the Sen community and people associated with other traditional occupations.

These included the distribution of kits to members of the Sen community for operating salons, battery-operated pottery wheels for potters and carpentry kits for members of the carpenter community. Chief Minister said that State Government would take into serious consideration the contemporary requirements and demands of the Sen community.

Sen Community Carrying Forward the Ideals of Karpoori Thakur

Shri Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, skills and talents have received their due acknowledgement and recognition in the country. He described that Bharat Ratna Jan Nayak Shri Karpoori Thakur as a symbol of the struggle for the rights of disadvantaged sections and social justice.

He noted that Shri Karpoori Thakur’s son, Shri Ram Nath Thakur, is serving the nation as a Minister in the Union Government. In Chhattisgarh, too, MLA Shri Rikesh Sen and Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation Chairperson Smt. Mona Sen are making active contributions to society and the development of the State.

Chief Minister further said that the Kesh Shilpi Kalyan Board has now received young leadership and expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Shri Gauri Shankar Shrivas, efforts to take the Sen community forward would gain further momentum.
