Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai condemns Kulgam terror attack, announces ₹ 20 lakh ex gratia each for families of Chhattisgarh labourers killed in attack

Raipur, August 1, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has expressed deep grief over the death of two migrant labourers from Chhattisgarh in a terrorist attack in Kulgam district of South Kashmir. The victims have been identified as Shri Deepak Ratre from Sakti district and Shri Bhupendra Bhaina from Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district.

Condemning the heinous attack in the strongest terms, Chief Minister said that targeting innocent civilians is a crime against humanity and such acts of terror have no place in any civilized society.

Assuring support to the bereaved families, Shri Sai announced an ex gratia assistance of ₹ 20 lakh each for the next of kin of the two deceased labourers. He said the Chhattisgarh Government stands firmly with the families and will extend every possible assistance during this difficult time.

Chief Minister said he immediately directed senior state officials to coordinate with the Jammu and Kashmir administration after receiving information about the incident. He also announced that the state government will appoint a nodal officer to maintain close coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir authorities and oversee all assistance being provided to the affected families.

Shri Sai prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and expressed hope that the bereaved families would find the strength to endure this profound loss.
