Silger’s Shri Madvi Kosa builds his own home, CM hands over keys

From a fragile hut to a secure home, govt schemes transform lives

Raipur, April 16, 2026 /

In a remarkable transformation, beneficiary Shri Madvi Kosa of Sukma’s Gram Panchayat Silger in Konta block, a long-cherished dream has come true. Once living in a dilapidated hut, his family now owns a safe and dignified ‘pucca’ house, built with support from the Niyad Nellanar Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin.

A key driver of this transformation was rural mason training conducted by Merapath Education Pvt Ltd. Equipped with skills and confidence, Shri Kosa constructed his own house, turning his journey into a story of self-reliance.

In the Financial Year 2024–25, Shri Kosa received Rs 1.20 lakh under PMAY-G, along with 95 person-days of work and Rs 23,085 in wages through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Additional support included Rs 12,000 for a toilet under Swachh Bharat Mission, solar power for lighting, and tap water access—making the home fully functional.

Sukma Collector Shri Amit Kumar termed it a model example of convergence and skill-led empowerment, while Zila Panchayat CEO Shri Mukund Thakur highlighted the role of training in enhancing quality and self-sufficiency.

During his visit, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai interacted with Shri Kosa and presented him with a ceremonial key. Today, his home stands as a symbol of resilience, dignity and transformation.
