Chief Minister Launches State-Level Campaign with Online Self-Enumeration for Census 2027
Appeals for Active Public Participation in the Mega Campaign of Census
Accurate Data Guides the Development Planning in the Coming Years
Raipur, April 16, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday launched the Census 2027 campaign by undertaking online self-enumeration at the his residence in Raipur. By personally entering his details on the portal, he conveyed a strong message urging citizens to actively participate in this significant national exercise.
Addressing the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai noted that India is conducting the world’s largest census operation, and the process of online self-enumeration has commenced in Chhattisgarh from today. He informed that citizens can upload details of their families through the online portal between April 16 and April 30, 2026. Emphasising the modernisation of the exercise, he said that this edition of the census has been designed in a digital format to enhance transparency and accessibility.
Describing the census as more than a mere collection of statistics, Shri Sai said it serves as the foundation for determining the future trajectory of both the nation and the state. He highlighted that government policies and development plans for the coming years are formulated on the basis of these data sets to ensure equitable reach of benefits across all sections of society. He further informed that the first phase of the census will commence from May 1, 2026, focusing on house listing and enumeration. Enumerators will visit households till May 30 to gather information on residential and non-residential structures, their condition and usage, as well as access to basic amenities such as drinking water, sanitation, electricity, cooking gas, internet and communication facilities.
Chief Minister Shri Sai has appealed the citizens to provide accurate, clear and complete information to enumerators during their visits, stressing that every detail plays a crucial role in shaping the state’s development roadmap. He assured that all the personal information collected during the census will be kept strictly confidential and used solely for statistical and policy-making purposes.
Highlighting the state’s growth trajectory, Shri Sai said Chhattisgarh is steadily progressing on the path of development, and the census will play a pivotal role in realising the vision of “Viksit Chhattisgarh 2047”. He urged all citizens to transform this mega campaign into a celebration of public participation through their active cooperation.
On the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary and Census Nodal Officer Shri Manoj Kumar Pingua, Raipur Collector Shri Gaurav Kumar Singh, Director of Census Shri Kartikeya Goyal, along with other officials, were present.
